Case Background

Felix has long extension tendon ruptures and surgical repair

Felix is a 25 year old man who suffered long extensor tendon tears following an injury to his hand

The extensor tears are in Zone V with disruption over the MCP joints of all the digits

Felix works in computer science, and spends much of his time keyboarding, as his full time job in a large technical company

It was determined that surgery was not required, therefore, Felix has been referred to OT for assessment, splinting, and remediation of issues related to the tendon injuries

He wishes to return to work and also to his other activities which include swimming, basketball, and other sports that he enjoys
Occupational Performance Issues
Following his injury, Felix is having difficulties in different areas that are important to his life:
Self care: ADLs difficulties with dressing, eating, and grooming
Productivity: His work requires him to type on a computer. Possible difficulties with administrative tasks
Leisure: Sporting activities that he previously enjoyed participating in like basketball and swimming
